SPONSORS

Our geographical location places us in a central position and that's exactly where we want to be...at the heart of Tarporley Village life.

The 'whole school community' means a great deal to us and we are very active in nurturing and maintaining links with the various bodies who are a part of this;

1) TARPORLEY SCHOOLS BUSINESS TRUST
2) LOCAL CHURCHES
3) PLAYGROUPS AND PRE-SCHOOL
4) GOVERNING BODY

TARPORLEY SCHOOLS BUSINESS TRUST

This trust originally set up by Primary school parents is now made up of a broad range of local business men who raise money for charities and for the benefit of the local schools including ours. They have made very considerable contributions to our school which have enabled us to employ additional teaching & support staff. They have also provided funds to upgrade our library. We look forward to a long association with them.

LOCAL CHURCHES

As a Church of England school, we are committed to promoting the childrens’ spiritual and moral development. We have good links with St. Helens and the Baptist & Methodist church; both give regular input to the assemblies and the curriculum. A childrens holiday Club is held in the school each August, run by both these churches. Year 6 pupils visit St. Helens to gain an understanding of communion and life in church, whilst pupils in year 4 visit the churches to broaden their understanding. A Mums and Toddlers group is held at the Baptist Methodist church on a Tuesday morning, 10-12.

PLAYGROUP AND PRE-SCHOOL

There are several Pre-Schools and Nurseries in Tarporley and it’s surrounds. Many children from these facilities choose to come to our School. We hold special events throughout the year prior to them starting school which they attend with their parents to enable them to become familiar with the Reception Classroom, Reception Teacher and Teaching Assistant and the general layout of the school and most importantly...where the toilets are!

Little things to us are big things to young children, so we like them to try us out a few times before they take that all important plunge! We have lots of fun at these events and the children always leave with a keepsake and happy memories of a good time they had at 'big school'.

GOVERNING BODY

There are five compulsory stakeholder groups for voluntary controlled schools: parents, school staff, the Local Authority (LA), the community and foundation governors. At Tarporley Church of England Primary School those groups comprise the following numbers:

SCHOOL STAFF: 3 includes Head Teacher by virtue of their office and 1 Teacher and 1 support staff, elected by staff.
LOCAL AUTHORITY: 3 appointed by the Local Authority

The Governing Body operate through a number of committees; Teaching and Learning,  Leadership and Management, and Children and Community, with the chairs of each committee, together with the Head Teacher and Assistant Head Teachers, forming the School Performance and Evaulation Group.

There are a number of statutory committees: Staff Dismissal and Dismissal Appeals, that to date have not been required to meet.

There are also a number of governors with specific responsibility and these are currently: Literacy, Numeracy, Special Education Needs, Child Protection, Early Years and Champion for Children.

The full Governing Body meets formally once a term, with the committees meeting in the weeks prior to the full meeting and as necessary.
