The Healthy School Team was set up in 2002 and comprises parent representatives, teaching and non teaching staff, governors and the school cook. It has addressed many areas of school life such as;

Due to the enormity of issues needing to be addressed, a sub-committee was formed including pupil representatives, to deal with food in School; The Healthy Eating Team looked into the very topical subject of School Dinners, packed lunches and snacks. The school dinner menu has been overhauled to provide wholesome, home cooked healthy meals and guidelines have been agreed for food which is brought into school

All the children are provided with a water bottle which can be filled at the recently installed water dispensers. These bottles are kept close to the classroom so that children can have a drink at any time during the course of the day.
All infant children participate in the ‘Free Fruit for Schools’, which is a Lottery funded initiative. Every child receives a piece of fruit at morning snack time.
An important area of the children’s environment, where we harnessed the artistic talents of the parents who came up with butterflies, seascapes, flowers and Dennis the Menace! It certainly cheered these areas up and the children were very pleased with the effort!
