W elcome to Tarporley Primary School Reception Class. In our class we have a strong emphasis on practical activities to develop our learning. We consistently take part in lots of fun learning experiences both guided and child initiated. This term our topic has been "AUTUMN". We went for an autumn walk and collected leaves, conkers and acorns. We looked at different varieties of trees and their leaves. T his term we have also investigated 2D shapes in our environment. We made our own shape town using squares, circles, rectangles and triangles. Still looking at shapes and colour, we investigated the work of the famous Russian artist "Kandinsky". We made concentric circles using wax and chalk pastels, paint on acetate and coloured paper collages. You can see these displayed around our classroom.

Back at school the children used the leaves we had collected to create colourful art display. Here`s some photos showing how we did it.
SHAPE
Finally we have been reading the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. We made a colourful display and talked about caterpillars and butterflies.
